What We Publish
Children's book manuscripts that focus on diverse stories by underrepresented voices from the African diaspora.
Special consideration will be given to international authors from the Caribbean region/diaspora.
What We are Looking For
Picture Books for 3-8-year-olds (750 words max). (CLOSED)
Chapter Books for 7-9-year olds (15,000 max). (CLOSED)
Middle Grade Fiction for 8-12-year-olds (20,000 - 50,000 max). (CLOSED)
International authors in the aforementioned categories already published overseas, looking for English translation/US publication. (OPEN)
How to Submit
Author Submissions
Authors, please submit complete manuscripts in a Word document only. Author-Illustrators, please submit picture book dummies with text and illustrations as a pdf file.
All submissions should include biographical information and the intended audience. Submissions should be titled Manuscript Submission in the subject line and sent to submissions@sugarapplebooks.com
Illustrator Portfolio Submissions
Portfolios should be titled Portfolio Submission in the subject line and sent to submissions@sugarapplebooks.com
Please include a link to your portfolio website as part of your submission.
